Summary Punjab govt has suspended ex-DG health and Chief Drug Inspector amid rising PIC fake drug deaths.
During ongoing investigations into deaths of patients getting free medicines from Punjab Institute of Cardiology, Punjab Government has suspended Director General Health Punjab Aslam Chaudhry and Chief Drug Inspector Muazzam Ali with immediate effect. Earlier, Secretary Health Jehanzeb Khan and Chief Executive PIC were made OSD in PIC fake drugs case whereas; Director Drug Testing Laboratories Mufti Abdusslam and MS PIC were suspended.On the other side, 80-year old Muhammad Sharif and two women Saleem Bibi and Farhat Kausar have lost their live in Services Hospital today after using spurious medicines of PIC. Death toll of PIC free drugs has reached 112 now.Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has requested Lahore High Court for establishment of Judicial Commission in order to investigate the matter completely. Investigation teams of FIA and other law enforcement agencies are also conducting probe into the matter.The special counter will remain open today (Sunday) for medicines change which has been established in PIC for the patients who got medicines from December, 1 2011 to January 10, 2012
