LHC directed the Director General of NCCIA to prepare a comprehensive list of individuals involved in posting defamatory content against judges
LAHORE (Dunya News) - In a major development in the case involving the character assassination of superior court judges on social media, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested eight suspects from Lahore.
According to NCCIA officials, the arrested individuals were involved in running a defamatory campaign against judges of the superior judiciary through social media platforms. The suspects allegedly shared and circulated content aimed at mocking, insulting, and damaging the reputation of judges.
In this connection, the NCCIA has submitted a detailed report to the Lahore High Court (LHC). Justice Ali Zia Bajwa is scheduled to hear the petition related to the matter later today.
Earlier LHC directed the Director General of NCCIA to appear in person on January 15 and ordered the agency to prepare a comprehensive list of individuals involved in posting defamatory content against judges.
The court had also made it clear that it would pursue the matter to its logical conclusion. The LHC warned that if any further such posts were found online, responsibility would rest with the Director General of NCCIA.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing, and more arrests may follow as efforts continue to curb misuse of social media and protect the dignity of judicial institutions.
