ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Zhaparov received a grand ceremonial welcome at the Prime Minister House on Thursday as he began his two-day maiden state visit to Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly welcomed the visiting leader upon his arrival at the PM House. The ceremony began with the national anthems of both countries, followed by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces presenting a guard of honour. President Zhaparov inspected the guard, after which both leaders exchanged greetings and good wishes. They later introduced members of their respective delegations.

Earlier in the day, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received the Kyrgyz president at the Islamabad airport with full state protocol. A 21-gun salute was presented in his honour, while children dressed in traditional Pakistani attire offered flowers to the distinguished guest. Zhaparov is accompanied by a high-level delegation including senior ministers, top officials and leading business representatives.

During the visit, President Zhaparov is set to address the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Business Forum, where the two sides are expected to explore new avenues for trade, investment and connectivity. Discussions will cover the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, particularly cooperation in energy, defence, education, regional linkages and people-to-people exchanges.

This visit marks the first presidential trip from Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan since 2005, reflecting the deep-rooted and brotherly relations between the two nations. The visit also highlights the shared aspirations of both countries for peace, development and regional prosperity.
