Summary PPP said that Imran Khans interview regarding PM Gilani is incompatible with SC observation.
PPP sources have strongly regretted the interview of Mr. Imran Khan given to AFP and published in the local media, urging the disqualification of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani over Supreme Courts alleged accusation of him(PM) being ‘dishonest’.The sources referred to the remarks of Justice Asif Saeed Khosa published in the newspapers on January 17, 2012, in which the Supreme Court judge clarified that the bench never used words ‘dishonest’ and ‘corrupt’ for the Prime Minister in the context highlighted by media and termed it as misconception. It was observed that any sane person would immediately question the sense of proportion of PTI Chief who did not see the observation of the Supreme Court Bench the following day published in the newspapers saying that the Bench never used such words as ‘dishonest’ for the Prime Minister. The sources said that the seemingly willful obliviousness by Mr. Imran Khan did not go well with his stature who aspired to emerge as a national political figure, advising great political prudence for PTI chief.Mr. Imran Khan was advised not be overtaken by the obsession to land in the corridors of power while giving scant consideration to the justified and legitimate means, as such imprudent politicking would hurt him grievously without an iota of doubt. The sources suggested that he should immediately disown his interview because of its glaring incompatibility with the apex Court’s observation wrongly quoted by the PTI Chief in his interview to the wire service.PPPP sources said that Mr. Khan’s supporters must have been terribly disappointed as they considered him as the upholder of politics characterized by moral ethos and the best democratic practices. They also claimed that the days of politics of shenanigan in Pakistan had gone for ever as the robust civil society and the vibrant media had taken the front seat and the perpetuators of politics of deceit had become redundant as a result.Imran Khan has been advised to desist from such unguarded and unfounded utterances sooner than the later.
