Summary Secretary Defence has been dismissed by Prime Minister Gilani a while after ISPR statement.

As per details, Secretary Defence Gen (r) Khalid Naeem Lodhi has been dismissed and the additional charge of his office has been given to the Secretary Cabinet.Lt-Gen (r ) Naeem Khalid Lodhi, considered to be an army loyalist, was seen as a bridge between the generals and the civilian government. The government cited certain steps of Khalid Lodhi caused misunderstanding between institutions. Cabinet Secretary Nargis Sethi has been given the extra charge of the office.Lt-Gen (r) Khalid Naeem had written in a reply to the SC on the memo issue that the government did not have any operational control on the Pak Army or the ISI.The ISPR had stated a while earlier that the PMs allegations against the COAS and the ISIDG would have serious implications.A senior government official said Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani sacked defence secretary for gross misconduct in triggering a row between the army and civilian leadership.Prime minister has terminated the contract of defence secretary Naeem Khalid Lodhi for gross misconduct, he said. State media said he had been fired for creating misunderstanding between the state institutions.The army earlier said the defence ministry had failed to process its submissions made to a Supreme Court inquiry into a controversial unsigned memo that sought US help in curbing the power of the military.That failure triggered a row between the countrys military and civilian leadership, with the prime minister earlier in the week telling Chinese media the army top brass had acted unlawfully in failing to consult it.
