Summary PPP leadership has warned that Army or judiciary would not be allowed to violate the constitution.
Governor Punjab Latif Khosa said this while addressing a public gathering arranged by PPP leader Aslam Gul on the eve of Benazir Bhutto’s fourth death anniversary at Benazir Park Lahore.He said that they would see as to who was plotting against the public mandate.He said that the Army would also defend democracy, adding that court cannot violate the constitution as long as people are alive. He said that his party had no fear of memo issue.Federal Law Minister Maul Bux Chandio said that current clash is not against Asif Zardai; rather it is being carried out against the parliament and democracy. Heirs of Gen Zia have come out of their dens to hatch a conspiracy against democracy, he said.Jahangir Badar said the people involved in the murder of ZA Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto have gathered to deprive the people of democracy.Imtiaz Safdar Warriach said that people’s pressure would defeat the memo, adding that there would be ‘dama dam mast qalandar’ against the rival forces.Raja Riaz said that the PML-N cannot do anything against the President and the Prime Minister in the parliament; that is why it is taking refuge behind a piece of paper.Participants also vowed to stand by President Zardari and offered prayer for Benazir Bhutto.
