The US Senate passed a $662 billion defense bill Thursday that also freezes some Pakistan aid, imposes sanctions on Irans central bank, and approves the indefinite imprisonment of suspected terrorists. The bill will be sent to President Barack Obama for approval.The Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee Rep. Buck McKeon has said that aid to Pakistan will remain withheld until Congress is convinced that Pakistan was working toward countering weapons used to ambush American soldiers.He said that $700 million in funding for Pakistan will remain breezed until Congress is convinced that Pakistan was working toward countering the threat of improvised explosive devices smuggled to Afghanistan to be used against American soldiers.Buck McKeon said that Pak-US relations are very tence after NATO strikes of November 26 but there relations are very important as both the countries needed each other.
