Summary Pakistani security forces took control of a Shamsi airbase in Washak district of Balochistan Sunday.

Pakistani Civil Aviation officials have also arrived at the airbase to take its full control.Pakistan had asked the U.S. to vacate Shamsi airbase in Balochistan province following NATO fighter jets and helicopters bombed two border posts on November 26 and killed 24 soldiers.After the 9/11 incident the Musharraf government had allowed the United Stares to use two airbases in the province — Dalbandin and Shamsi. The Shamsi airbase was built in 1992 by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the then ruler of the United Arab Emirates.
