Summary Hussain Haqqani says his name had been on the Exit Control List in the past as well.
The former Pakistani ambassador to the US, who has been replaced in the aftermath of the memo-gate scandal, said in a statement that he had not returned to Pakistan to run away. He said he is not the one to run away from difficulties. He said his name was removed from the ECL in the previous instance and once again would be removed once the Supreme Court had heard his side of the story.Haqqani is accused of dictating a memo to his friend-turned-foe Mansoor Ijaz, who claims delivering the memo to Mike Mullen. The controversial memo called upon the US to put an iron first on the table of COAS Gen Kayani in order to avert hypothetical threats to the PPP government in the aftermath of the Abbottabad raid that killed Osama bin Laden. Haqqani has denied dictating the memo while the US says Mullen had hardly taken that seriously.
