Summary The nurses postponed their protest after assurance from Punjab govt to accept their demands.
The nurses protested for increase in salaries for three days across Punjab and staged sit ins on the roads. Afterward, the negotiations between representatives of Punjab government and protesting nurses became successful and a committee was formed to look into the matter. It is decided that the committee will submit its report in 30 days.A meeting was held in chief minister secretariat led by Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah. Chairman Parliamentary Committee for Health Dr Saeed Elahi, advisor to chief minister Begum Zakia Shahnawaz, secretary health and a delegation of protesting nurses attended the meeting. After long negotiations, a sub-committee was formed on special pay package and promotion regularization. the sub-cimmittee will submit its report within a week. The law minister also ordered to struck down cases against nurses and directed secretary health for not taking any action against nurses for staging protest.However, a group of nurses refused to accept decision and vowed to continue protest till the issuance of notification in this connection.
