Summary The UK Home Secretary, Theresa May paid her respects to the martyrs of the Pakistani police.
She laid a wreath at the police monument in Islamabad, the British High Commission on Friday.Interior Minister, Rehman Malik, joined her at the ceremony. May met with representatives of the families and victims of those killed and injured by terrorist attacks in Pakistan recognizing the sacrifices of those killed in the service of Pakistan and its citizens. She then met with the families and victims of ordinary Pakistani citizens who have been killed and injured in terrorist atrocities.Speaking to victims of terrorism at the event the Home Secretary said, 30,000 Pakistani civilians and 3,500 policemen have been killed by terrorism since 9/11. These shocking numbers speak of immense bravery as well as great tragedy and human suffering.Listening to police officers and families whose lives have been so changed by terrorism makes me proud to reaffirm the UKs commitment to stand alongside Pakistan in tackling this scourge. We will do all we can to help to build a future where extremist violence has no place she added.
