Summary Punjab Govt. stopped funds of City Police Liaison Committee and cancelled lease of office building.
Citizens Police Liaison Committee is working under Police Orders 2002. Comprised of traders, minorities, women, media and former officials of the army and the judiciary, the committee has helped the citizens in registering 2857 cases in Lahore’s different police stations despite of unwilling attitude of police personnel. The Punjab government has approved a grant of Rs 3500000 for building rent arrears and other expenses, however, the condition of special audit is also imposed.According to sources, in reply to the request sent by committee, Director Audit Hafiz Islam said that how the audit of the money was possible which was not spent yet. After reply from Auditor General, the release of funds of Rs 3500000 is also feared to be stopped. Along this, Interior Ministry has also cancelled the lease deed of the committee’s building.
