Summary Nawaz lamented on Sunday that Pakistan is lagging behind on uplift and development.
Addressing the party rally in Faisalabad, the PML-N chief warned that certain politicians were carrying forward the old game of agencies in the country, but the PML-N is conscious of their designs. He compared the current era to his tenure as prime minister. He said today industries are shutting in absence of gas and electricity while industry was growing and motorways were being made in his tenure. He said “today India is far ahead of us, Sri Lanka is ahead of us. Had the PML-N government not been toppled, Pakistan could easily have become Asia tiger with the continuation of effective policies.”About the assets declaration slogan of PTI chief Imran Khan, the PML-N chief said that those who talk of assets should also talk of nationalisation in the Bhutto tenure when the Sharif family’s industries were nationalized along with other industries. Nawaz said his father opened six more industries being a patriotic Pakistani.Referring to Imran’s slogan of change, Nawaz said “they talk of change, but PML-N already has brought change.”“We brought change when we set up motorways, when we opened new industries, when we raised the national flag by detonating six nuclear devices in response to Indian five tests, when we resisted six phone calls from Clinton,” Nawaz said, adding that those playing agencies game and raising slogan of change should know that the PML-N is all out such plots.Nawaz particularly took up the issue of memo written allegedly by Pakistani envoy to the US, Hussain Haqqani, to then US armed forces chief Mike Mullen. He said Zardari must hold an inquiry within the next two to three days. He said a Pakistani envoy writing a letter and seeking support of the US against the armed forces is a matter of shame. He said the issue is best to reflect how rampant corruption is in the government. The PML-N chief accused President Zardari of selling out countrys sovereignty. He said the present government wants to put Pakistan Army under the control of America.Nawaz said the Punjab governments performance has been flawless. He said Shahbaz Sharif desrved a slaute for eradicating the virus of dengue across the province.Referring again to Imran Khans statement at Lahore rally that the two main parties (PML-N and PPP ) are hand in gloves with each other to loot the country, Nawaz said it is all baseless. Dont lie for Gods sake. Remember that our families has rendered tremendous sacrifices for Pakistan. We saw our businesses taken over under Bhuttos nationalisation. We saw our ancestral home occupied in Musharrafs tenure. Had we been conniving with the PPP, we would not have launched the long march for the restoration of democracy.Nawaz said that early one the PML-N showed leniency to the PPP government because it wanted to give the government a fair chance to serve the masses. But, Nawaz said, the PPP government disappointed them. The PML-N chief promised soft loans to the youth of the country once he gets back into power. He said the PML-N government would change the lot of the country.Earlier, addressing the gathering, Ch Nisar Ali Khan opened his speech with a message for the media. He said the cameras should show that equal number of people are outside the ground. His remarks clearly reflected on the PML-N’s desire to outclass PTI’s show in Lahore. The PML-N has been endeavouring to counter PTI chief Imran Khan’s rally at Minar-e-Pakistan, and today’s rally comes as one such opportunity to hit two birds with one stone -- to counter Imran and send a strong message to the PPP.Referring to Imran Khan’s statement that he would bowl out both PPP and PML-N, Ch Nisar said cannot Imran should know a bowler cannot take two wickets with one delivery. However, if umpires are with Imran, then he can take three wickets, he added.Ch Nisar repeatedly mentioned of the unseen forces allegedly helping Imran Khan’s PTI. He called Imran a bubble on the political waters of Pakistan. He said if Imran is serious on his assets declaration slogan, then why not take the matter to the Supreme Court. He also said that the PML-N will always back the Pakistan Army, but cannot support generals who overthrow governments and arrest elected prime minister (allusion to Nawaz Sharif’s arrest).Nisar briefly mentioned of the ‘go Zardari go’ campaign at the end of his address. The PML-N has fixed target to gather 100,000 people in order to show its strength and popularity. In this regard, outstanding arrangements have been made in Dhobi Ghat ground in Faisalabad where number of chairs has been increased from 15,000 to 17,000.Dhobi Ghat road also has been converted into a stage while traffic has been diverted. On the direction of party leadership, boards and banner displaying local leaders’ snaps have been removed from the ground.Earlier, Makhdum Javed Hashmi addressed the public gathering and threw light on current situation of country, including the role of dictators in ruining the country.Apart from Dhobi Ghat ground, all the roads of the city have been decorated with banners and boards of party leaders. Party workers from Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Sargodha, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara, Sahiwal, Nankana Sahib and Lahore would also participate in the gathering.According to PML leaders, Nawaz Sharif would make important announcements regarding ‘go Zardari go’ campaign. Political circles are giving importance to this meeting.PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif arrived at the venue with Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, while Javed Hashmi, Saad Rafique, Hamza Shahbaz, Senator Pervez Rashid, Zulfiqar Khosa, Rana Sanaullah and others were already in the ground.Addressing the rally, Saad Rafiqu said todays rally is against the corrupt regime of Asif Zardari. “The country got freedom but the fruits never reached to the masses, national institutions are near to collapse.”On his turn, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said that the rally would be decisive and Faisalabads decision would be the decision of the Punjab.Rana Sanaullah said that PML-Ns protest movement had entered into a new phase and it would further gear up after Muharram.Rana Sanaullah said the people would soon be relieved of the present corrupt rulers.
