Summary Danyal Aziz said delaying local polls is equal to depriving people of their constitutional rights.
It is also contempt of court, the former National Reconstruction Bureau chairman said while addressing a news conference at the Lahore Press Club.He said that the Punjab government had promised to hold local polls within 365 days in its written justification filed in the court. This timeframe ended on October 28 but the Punjab government is not showing seriousness in this regard.Danyal said that the Punjab government has spent funds worth Rs 119 billion allocated for the local government polls.He said if the provincial government did not show seriousness, a rally would be held in Gujranwala for the rights of common people on November 3.
