Summary MQM chief Altaf Hussain effectively countered PML-N demo by staging equaliser in Karachi on Sunday.

Addressing a large rally over the telephone, Altaf Hussain said that the hollow threats of the “paper lions” would carry no effect. He warned of severe consequences if anyone talked of hanging the President. Referring to the election symbol of the PML-N leaders, he said the paper “lions” would run away to Jeddah at the time of difficulty.In the rally named “Istehkam-e-Pakistan”, Altaf objected to the unparliamentary language used against the President. “We can hit back and use the same language, but the land of Sindh prohibits us from doing so”.Referring to the rally participants, the MQM chief said the mammoth rally indicates that it’s the time to say “No Nawaz Sharif No” instead of “Go Zardari Go”.Altaf said it is wrong to use undemocratic ways to get into power. He said the rulers of Punjab would not be allowed to impose their dictatorial policies over others. He said the PML-N should wait for the elections. “Those who talk of hanging have history of weeping to seek safe exile to Jeddah.”Altaf also appealed to the President and the PM to appoint honest officers in the PIA and the Railways. He said there are internal and external threats to the country, which could be warded off with unity.
