Summary Pakistan and Latvia inked Air Service Agreement after talks in Islamabad on Thursday.

Under the agreement, a total of 10 weekly flights have been granted to each sided on the basis of reciprocity.According to Ministry of Defense spokesperson, talks on Bilateral Air Services Agreement (ASA) between the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of Latvia were held in Rawalpindi on Thursday. The Pakistan delegation was led by Major General Raja Muhammad Arif Nazir, Additional Secretary-I, Ministry of Defence while the Latvian delegation was headed by Mr. Arnis Muiznieks, Director, Air Transport Department, Ministry of Transport, Latvia. Both the sides discussed issues of mutual interest in the field of Civil Aviation. The atmosphere of the talks was quite friendly.As a result of successful talks, both the countries initialed the text of Air Services Agreement (ASA), besides signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). As per MoU, a total of 10 weekly flights would be granted to each sided on the basis of reciprocity. Baltic Airlines, the designated carrier of Latvia, is entitled to commence seven weekly flights to/from Karachi and three weekly flights entitled to commence a total of ten weekly flights to/from points in Pakistan to Riga, the Latvian capital.
