Summary Future of bill against acid throwing is in limbo, as it has not been taken up by the upper house.
Although, it has been approved by National Assembly but it remains pending before law and justice committee.This bill against acid crimes was tabled by Marvi Memon of PML-Q in 2010 and after one and half year it approved from National Assembly but is still pending before Law and Justice Committee for its review and has not been taken up by the Senate.Expressing her grave concern over the delay, Marvi Memon said that government was involved in corruption and have no concern with the problems of the people of the country. She said that it is the incompetency of the present government that they have not sent it to the upper house.She said that she had presented this bill to provide security to the women of the country as such crimes were increasing rapidly but immediate steps were not taken by the government.Marvi said that government would be responsible for all incidents of acid sprinkling which will happen till the approval of this bill.Javeria a worker of an NGO said that incidents of acid sprinkling are increasing rapidly while government is not showing any interest to control such crimes.
