Pak-Iran deal help to end energy crisis: PM

Summary Gilani said the Iranian gas pipeline and import of 1000 MW electricity would ease energy shortfall.

He expressed these views while talking to the Iranian ambassador Mashallah Shakeri on Wednesday who paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and discussed matters of mutual interest. The Prime Minister recalled his meeting with the Iranian President, first Vice President, the Speaker and the Iranian leadership during his recent visit to Iran. He said the Iranian gas pipeline and import of 1000 MW electricity would ease energy shortfall in the country. The Prime Minister urged upon the connectivity between the two countries through sea, land and air links for enhancing the trade. He also discussed progress regarding the opening of Consulate General in Bandar Abbas.The Ambassador thanked the people of Pakistan and the Prime Minister for their support during his diplomatic assignment in Pakistan.He said he would continue to work to enhance cooperation between the two countries while working in Iran.The Prime Minister asked the ambassador to convey his best wishes to the leadership of Iran.
