Summary Railway employees ended up protest as govt. has released Rs 1b for salaries and pensions.
According to sources, the government has released a relief package of RS 1 billion for Pakistan Railways. State Bank will issue the amount in phases.The protesting railway employees have ended up their protest amid reports of package release.Earlier, Thousands of railway employees protested against the nonpayment of salaries. The railway workers didn’t send any engine from railway shed to Lahore railway station.Protesting workers said that political interference and negligence of railway authorities have destroyed the railway. They warned the government that if it did not pay attention to the deteriorating condition of Pakistan Railways the department will collapse one day and all the responsibility will be on government and railway officials.The protestors vowed to continue the protest till the payment of salaries. However, the DS railway said that the salaries of STs and guards will be given on 21st of this month. According to sources, the government has released a relief package of RS 1 billion for Pakistan Railways.
