Summary Death anniversary of first prime minister of Pakistan, Liaquat Ali Khan, is being observed today.
Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan was born on October 1, 1896 in Karnal, India. He graduated from Anglo Oriental College in 1918. He refused to join Indian Civil Service and left for England for higher education.He returned to country in 1923 after completing his studies. Soon after his return, he decided to join politics. He joined the Pakistan Muslim league despite the fact that he was invited by Congress.He started his parliamentary carrier after winning a seat UP legislative assembly in 1926 in as independent candidate. He was elected honorary secretary of the party. In 1940, Liaquat Ali Khan joined Muslim League central legistative Assembly.Liaquat Ali Khan in his entire political career worked for the rights of Muslims of the sub-continent.Liaquat Ali Khan was appointed Finance Minister in the transition government. After the creation of Pakistan in 1947, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah appointed him as first prime minister of the country.Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan was assassinated on October 16, 1951 during a political ray in Rawapindi.
