About 160 smugglers have been arrested within two years, but were penalised lightly.Minister of Narcotics presented a report regarding narcotics smuggling in the National Assembly. Dunya TV has received a copy from it sources.According to the report, about 160 smugglers were arrested within two years out of whom 214 kg heroin and 32,000 kg marijuana worth billion of rupees was recovered. Surprisingly, the smugglers were punished and fined lightly.They include Indian, British, French and Canadian nationalities who were leaving for their countries with narcotics worth billion of rupees.A large number of smugglers are those who managed to succeed in taking heavy quantity of narcotics with them.According to report, about 95 out of 160 foreigner smugglers were penalised by four months to one year. The maximum fine that was imposed on one of the smugglers was worth Rs 0.4 million while minimum fine was counted from Rs 10,000 to 50,000. These foreigners after passing some months behind the bars get back in narcotics smuggling. Most of the foreigners belong to Zambia and Nigeria, Britain, Canada, India, France, Malaysia, Sudan, Afghanistan and other countries.
