Summary Islamabad High Court has stayed the death sentence awarded to Mumtaz Qadri in Taseer murder case.

The two-member bench of Islamabad High Court comprised of Chief Justice IHC Iqbal Hameed ur Rehman and Justice Anwar Khan Kasi heard the appeal against the death sentence of Mumtaz Hussain Qadri in governor Salman Taseer murder case. The court has accepted the appeal for formal hearing and ordered to stop the implementation on the decision of lower court.Talking to media, former Chief Justice Lahore High Court Khawaja Sharif said that Mumtaz Qadri had asked me to take his case in a letter from jail. My close circle also convinced me to fight the case of Mumtaz Qadri as it is a noble cause.
