Summary PML-Q has offered rapprochement to disgruntled MPs in return for support in Senate polls.
The party has also offered party ticket to all such MPs who have abandoned the party for one reason or the other.On the other hand, the Unification Block, formerly the Forward Block, comprising mostly disenfranchised Q-Leaguers, has developed differences on the proposal of dissolution of Punjab Assembly ahead of the Senate elections.All the political parties have geared up activities in view of approaching Senate elections. The Q-League none the less has taken strides by offering rapprochement to the Unification Block. Some of the Unification Block members have declared their parliamentary leader Dr Tahir Javed’s proposal of assembly dissolution as undemocratic.Though the Unification Block has decided to vote for the PML-N candidates for Senate, legal experts say that the defection clause of the 18th amendment would be in force for the next polls.The PPP too has acknowledged contacts with Unification Block members to strengthen its position in the Senate polls.
