President orders implementation of SC Karachi unrest verdict

Summary President Zardari has ordered all sections of government to follow SC verdict on Karachi unrest.

The order was made during a high-level meeting chaired by President Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr. The judgment of the Supreme Court was discussed in detail and future strategy was devised in the light of the verdict.Sindh Governor Dr Ishraul-Ebad, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wasan and Chief Secretary Raja Abbas, Ayaz Soomro attended the meeting among others.The meeting discussed administrative steps required for the implementation of the Supreme Court verdict.The Sindh Chief Minister briefed the meeting on the steps taken by the provincial government for the implementation of the verdict and the steps that will further be taken.Farhatullah Babar the President expressed satisfaction that all concerned agencies of the government were cognizant of the need to implement the SC verdict and that some measures had already been taken.Former Law Minister Babar Awan gave a detailed briefing to the participants regarding the decision.The meeting had been convened on the special directive of President Asif Ali Zardari to review implementation on the Supreme Court decision.The President, addressing the participants, said that the democratic government respects the decisions of the courts and issued directives to the authorities concerned to ensure implementation of the Supreme Court verdict.President Asif Ali Zardari said it is responsibility of the state to protect the life and property of the citizens which would be ensured at all costs.
