Karachi: Afaq arrested in decade-old case

According to police, the arrest warrants were issued by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC). Police said that the case was registered 10 years ago and two others accused in the case were released. Afaq was kept under house arrest after the ATC granted him bail.Afaq’s arrest is also seen by the local media as part of a deal struck by the PPP and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for bringing the Karachi based party into the ruling coalition.Media reports further said that Afaq was also offered by the Sindh government leave the country but he refused to do so.
