Summary Federal Defence Minister Ch Ahmed Mukhtar said that PIA would not default like Pakistan Railways.
Talking to the media, the minister said that the government provides funds to the Pakistan Railways but the PIA bears all its expenses itself, adding that the PIA is not a state-funded organistion. He stated that about Rs 45 billion out of Rs 130 billion deficit of the PIA is part of its interest and loans. He maintained that the PIA bears about Rs 800 million losses per month due to non-profit routes.He told the media that President Asif Ali Zardari has directed restructuring of PIA, adding that Shaukat Tarin had rejected summery of PIA’s restructuring many times.He said that new Naval chief would be appointed soon.
