Summary National Energy Committee has advised PM to raise power tariff and announce two weekly holidays.
An inter-ministerial meeting was held at the Prime Minister House, in which the PM directed the Ministry for Petroleum to restore oil supply to KAPCO and HUBCO so that power crisis may be overcome completely. Gilani also ordered to pay outstanding dues of the PSO as well.The PM directed the Standing Committee chaired by Finance Minister Abdul Hafiz Shaikh to submit suggestions in the special meeting of the cabinet to cope with the power crisis.He asked the Ministry for Water and Power to consult other provinces in this regard.The Energy Committee’s recommendations were submitted in the meeting before the Prime Minister. The suggestions included two holidays a week, 12% raise in the tariff of power, privatisation of official power plants, hundred percent recoveries of bills.
