The country is going through a worst energy and economic crisis amid heating political wrangling between two rival parties.Head of PML-N Mian Nawaz Sharif has said that President Asif Ali Zardari is proving to be a threat to democracy and due to wrong policies of government we are being isolated internationally.“Pakistan is facing multiple external and internal challenges while the Federal government has taken no measures to counter these challenges. The country is weakening day by day and we are being isolated at the international level”,Nawaz Sharif said while addressing the Central Working Committee meeting in Punjab House on Monday.The meeting was held to discuss current political situation, economic condition, implementation of decisions of the recently held All Parties Conference (APC), uncontrolled inflation, worsening electricity shortfall and the party future strategy.He said that despite making immense sacrifices in the war against terror we are being condoned and criticised. The investors are hesitant to invest in the country while the domestic investors are also moving their businesses out from the country. Such a scenario has become a grave concern.Criticising the manner in which the government is running the helms of affairs, Nawaz Sharif said the government has not taken the Parliament or the Public into confidence on any matter. The resolutions passed by the parliament on the Abbottabad operation have not been implemented and neither any opposition leader have been consulted. The manner in which the government is running the state affairs is a bad mark on democracy.“President Zardari is proving to be a threat to democracy, as I predicted a few years back”, Nawaz said.President Zardari has written flattery articles in US newspapers than why shouldn’t US pressurise us. Today we are in this mess due to the ill policies of the government. He said the international community avoids providing aid as governments record is not good. Nawaz further said that in a country where the judiciary’s decisions are ridiculed justice cannot prevail.He said that the country is facing worst form of load shedding, thousands of industries have been shut, scores of people have become unemployed and the ship ordered by the government from abroad for power production is standing docked at Karachi for past one year and has not been made operational.He said when he was PM Pakistan was in debt of only RS 3 trillion and now our foreign loans have exceeded RS 8 trillion.He said that the government has made Pakistan beggar in front of the world due to its corruption.Announcing that he would visit Balochistan in a couple of days, Nawaz said that it is injustice that the dissident Baloch members were not invited to the APC.Moreover, Nawaz demanded the early decision of missing persons cases and their recovery.
