Summary PM Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani will chair National Energy Conference in Prime Minister House today.

As per media reports, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani convened National Energy Conference and Chief Ministers of all provinces would participate in the conference to view energy saving suggestions already formulated, several important decisions would be taken and proposal of two-days weekly off would be discussed in the conference as well.Additionally, propositions of switching off lights at 8pm in all the parks and using air-conditioners in the offices before 11am would be discussed in detail in the conference.Secretary water and power, Imtiaz Qazi said that following disastrous rains of Sindh, the government of Sindh has regretted any further water supply from Mangla and Tarbela dams for its Rabbi crops, as irrigation land was all wet.He informed that this failure of release of further water from dams, which generated electricity in process, was causing a shortfall of 2500MW of electricity,Rejecting the notion of any paucity of water level in dams, he also informed that circular debt regarding revenue owed to oil companies fell at Rs100 billion.He also informed that government had paid PSO Rs.5 billion in outstandings, and while thermal power station has been resumed with oil supply, he hoped that the issue would be amicably settled in matter of days, decreasing load-shedding duration.
