Summary A pack of mad dogs bit 50 people, including women and children, in Dhirkot, AJK.
The injured were taken to Dhirkot Hospital that ran out of vaccine against rabies. The area residents have demanded the government arrange vaccination immediately. Health experts say that if vaccination is delayed beyond 24 hours of the dog bite, it creates complexities and make the treatment costlier. The stray dogs fled to adjoining village and reportedly injured many children and women there.The residents are trying to trace and kill the stray dogs on self-help basis, whereas the authorities have confined themselves to making announcements on mosque loudspeakers.
