Summary Malik has said that allegations against Pakistan regarding ties with Haqqani network are baseless.
Talking to the Dunya News, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said that Pakistan would continue to cooperate with the US but not at the cost of our sovereignty and solidarity. He also said that peaceful Afghanistan is inevitable for peaceful Pakistan.Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani had assured Afghan government that Pakistan would cooperate to probe Professor Rabbani’s assasination, he added. He expressed that Taliban did not consider Pak-Afghan peace process and leader like Rabbani was must for restoration of peace in Afghanistan, he maintained adding, Taliban wanted to destroy efforts to restore peace in Afghanistan. He said that Pakistani people have been facing like 9/11 situation every day, adding that more than 35,000 people were killed in terrorism bids while economy of 68 billions of dollars have been ruined. He said that Pakistan was mainly affected in war on terror and chain of allegations levelled against Pakistan should come to an end and both the countries should prepare joint strategy against their enemy in war on terror.The minister also criticized the Jamate Islami, Tehreek-e-Insaf and PML-N for condemning the policy of current government to have friendly relationship with the US. He also assured that more than 75 target killers have been arrested in Karachi operation and it would continue till their extermination.Rehman also revealed that some activists of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi were active in Punjab and had ideal relations with officials. Lashkar’s headquarter is in Jhang but no action is being taken against these people, he added.
