Summary The accused were allegedly involved in corruption amounting to Rs15 crores
KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Accountability court accepted a plea on Monday to move the reference of corruption in police funds against former Sindh IG Ghulam Haider Jamali. The reference was sent back to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman.
Ghulam Haider Jamali, along with SSP Faisal Bashir Memon, SSP Fida Shah, and AIGP Tanveer Tahir, was nominated in the reference. The accused were allegedly involved in corruption amounting to Rs15 crores.
During the proceedings, Mr Jamali's lawyer argued that after the amendment of NAB rules, the reference does not fall under the jurisdiction of the accountability court. The court accepted the plea and sent the reference back to the NAB chairman.
Ghulam Haider Jamali served as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Sindh province from 2014 to 2016.
