Scotland Yard offers reward for info about Imran Farooqs killers

Summary Scotland Yard has offered a 20,000 reward for information about killers of MQMs Dr Imran Farooq.

The announcement came on the first anniversary of his death.The reward is for information leading to the identification, arrest, and prosecution of those responsible for Dr Farooqs murder.Dr Farooq was on his way home from work when he was attacked outside his home in Green Lane, Edgware shortly before 17:30hrs on Thursday 16 September 2010. A post-mortem gave his cause of death as multiple stab wounds and blunt trauma to the head.Officers from the Specialist Operations Counter Terrorism Command retain an open mind as to a motive. They believe there are people who hold vital information about the murder and have urged them to come forward to help bring those responsible to justice. The attack would have required careful planning. Police believe his killers may have had help from other people, some of whom may have innocently provided assistance.Detectives want to hear from anyone who was asked for information about Dr Farooq and his routine, or who was asked to help buy items, such as knives similar to those used in the murder, or mobile phones around the time of his murder.Police said it would also like to speak to anyone who may have been asked to drive people around the Green Lane area in the days before the murder, or who may have witnessed the suspects leaving the murder scene.
