Summary Meeting also deliberated upon transfer of PTCL properties to provinces and concerned departments.

The Cabinet Committee constituted by the Prime Minister for examining the matters regarding share purchase agreement with Etisalt and auction of 3G spectrum met with the Federal Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh in the chair.The meeting discussed the different matters regarding “Auction of 3G Spectrum” “China Mobile LDI license” “WLL Broadband Spectrum Auction” and “Transfer of PTCL properties” with officials of ministry of information technology, PTA and Etisalt.The meeting centered around discussing different pros and cons regarding auction of 3G spectrum and after due deliberation, it was decided to form a sub-committee which will look the every details of the matter.The meeting also discussed the China Mobile LDI License issue in which the chairman of the committee Abdul Hafeez Shaikh agreed that the ministry of information technology can negotiate with Etisalat to grant of LDI license to China Mobile as proposed by Ministry of Information Technology.The meeting also deliberated upon the transfer of PTCL properties to the provinces and concerned departments. It was stated that out of 3248 properties, 3101 number of properties are already transferred to provinces and related departments and 147 numbers of properties are outstanding.On the issue of transfer of remaining property of PTCL, the Finance Minister asked the Secretary Information Technology to come up with draft containing salient features to him to be sent to the prime minister for further action.The chairman of the committee also accorded approvals of the recommendation about the wireless local loop auction and its policy directives.Secretary Finance, Dy, Chairman Planning Commission, Chairman PTA and other officials of ministry of IT and Etisalat were also present in the meeting.
