While addressing a video conference live from London, MQM Chief Altaf Hussain said that innocent people were tortured and slaughtered by terrorists in the past days adding that if he was not the chief of the party he would have been killed. He stated that the history of Pakistantaught in our academic institutions was false and the country was a far cry from the vision of Jinnah who was a secular and always spoke of equality for all.He accused the Jamat-e-Islami (JI) of paying Haqiqi’s activists to fire on an MQM rally on May 12. He demanded that action be taken against the JI’s militant wing ‘Thunder Squad’. He added that 16 MQM workers were killed while 65 were injured on May 12. Atlaf Hussain criticized the act of Zulfiqar Mirza who had placed the Holy Quran on his head during his news conference, adding that the book of Allahis for reading and obtaining knowledge not for swearing.Altaf Hussain maintained that a number of MQM workers were tortured to death during the Karachi mayhem.He commiserated with people who had lost their loved ones duringviolence in Karachi.He startedhis address withthe recitation of verses from the Holy Quran.Earlier, he had issued a written statement in which he alleged that some foreign agencies were trying to assassinate him.
