LAHORE (Dunya News) – Advisor to the Chief Minister of Punjab on Information, Omar Sarfaraz Cheema claimed on Tuesday all the Pakistan Democratic Movement ‘s (PDM) parties were preparing to buy the conscience of Punjab Assembly lawmakers.

Addressing the media, Mr Cheema said, "We were already confident that in the matter of the Punjab chief minister’s vote of confidence, the PDM was short on numbers." Clearing the air about taking the vote of confidence, Mr Cheema said, "We are having no problem taking the vote of confidence."

Speaking on the Punjab governor’s order on taking the vote of confidence, Mr Cheema said, "The way the Punjab governor asked the chief minister to take the vote of confidence was not right."

Lashing out at his political opponents, Mr Cheema said, "Despite the court’s rejection of the Punjab governor’s order, the opponents are continuing to make big claims for the sake of diverting the people from their incompetence."

Taking a dig at the interior minister, Mr Cheema said, “On one side the country is facing the challenges of terrorism. But the interior minister is indulging in the activity of buying the conscience of the lawmakers.”

Warning the political opponents to pay attention to their own lawmakers, Mr Cheema said, "Zardari-Shehbaz nexus is persistently interfering with the matter of CM Elahi’s vote of confidence."

He also took a dig at the coalition government, alleging, "For the sake of preserving the NRO-II, they [rulers] want to remain in power."
