Summary Two PIA planes have landed after bomb threats were given by emails.

Boeing 777 PK-709 bound for Manchester took off from Lahore airport, but on the way it was informed that there was a bomb onboard. This led to the diversion of plane to the Attaturk airport in Istanbul for emergency landing to search the aircraft. There were 378 passengers on the flight. The bomb information was given via an email. A PIA spokesman confirmed the diversion of plane to Turkey after the bomb scare. However, he wouldn’t immediately say if any bomb had been found onboard yet.Turkish Anatolia news agency reported that security officials with sniffer dogs searched the plane.The bomb alert, which came as the aircraft was flying over the Bulgarian capital of Sofia, caused panic among passengers, the agency said.Similarly, PK 898 from Lahore to Kuala Lumpur also made urgent landing after a similar bomb alert by an email. The email alerted that the bomb would go off in a little over three hours time. There were 162 passengers aboard this flight. The plane has reportedly been cleared after landing.
