Summary People not given relief through Sasta Bazar during PML-N’s tenure, says Elahi

LAHORE ( Dunya News ) – Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said on Tuesday the policy of Sasta Bazars was used by the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz ( PML-N ) to loot and plunder the resources and the people were denied relief through targeted subsidies.

Speaking in the session related to wheat production and distribution, CM said the loans of the Punjab government were reduced by Rs100 billion through adequate steps and the common people would be provided subsidies through the Ehsas programme.

Mr Elahi added the procurement of wheat would be easy due to the reduction of governmental loans while hoping the farmers would not face any difficulties in the next harvesting season.

He said that his government had already provided flour at cheap rates to the deserving people through the Punjab’s Ehsas Programme.

Meanwhile, the chief minister also directed the provincial administration to provide flour at the fixed rate, besides giving orders to the relevant officials to take action against inter-provincial smuggling of wheat and flour.
