Maj Gen AtharAbbas has said that the Pak army was seriously concerned over the grave situation in Karachi and wanted immediate end to violence of all sorts in the city.Talking to a foreign news agency, Gen Athar said the law enforcement agencies should launch indiscriminate action against the perpetrators of violence and saboteurs to secure peace in the mega city. He said the army was seriously concerned over the death of innocent citizens in the mega city. He said all the secret agencies were sharing information with the police whose prime responsibility was to maintain peace in the city and launch crackdown against the criminal elements.The spokesman of the Pak army said ten out of the 40 children who had been taken into custody by the Taliban had returned. He made it clear that no incident of kidnapping had occurred in the Bajaur agency. He informed that Mamoon tribe settled along the Pak-Afghan border and the members of the tribe under an agreement could freely move across the border.He told the foreign news agency that on Eid day (Wednesday) elders and youth of the Mamoon tribe had gone to Afghanistan where 40 persons including children were abducted by terrorists. Of those kidnapped, ten persons have been released while the rest of the kidnapped are still under the custody of the terrorists.Zulfiqar Mirzas’ statement quoting Rehman Malik that the army and ISI would come into action and dismantle the government if he (Malik) tried to net insurgents, Gen Athar said he would not comment on Mirza’s statements and Rehman Malik could accept or reject the statement referred to him.
