Summary Foreign Office has urged international community to prod India on mass graves in held-Kashmir (IHK).

FO spokesperson Tehmina Janjua said that discovery of graves in Kashmir is a source of worry and India must take steps to hold fair investigations. Pakistan has earlier urged India to allow independent probe into nameless graves discovered in occupied Kashmir and the issue of disappearances in the valley.“Pakistan is deeply concerned on reports of discovery of 1000 nameless graves in Kashmir,” another statement from Foreign Office earlier said. The Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons, which represents the relatives of the people who disappeared during the uprising in the valley, disclosed recently that it had found 1000 nameless graves in Uri, one of the most violent parts of occupied Kashmir near the Line of Control.Rights groups claim that about 10,000 innocent people have disappeared since an uprising against the Indian rule began in 1990. They fear that these graves may be of the missing people and have demanded an international investigation.Tehmina also reiterated that all diplomats of foreign countries are required to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for travel inside Pakistan. Earlier, Pakistan imposed restriction on foreign diplomats travel without NOC in view of security situation in the country. Different areas have been designated as no-go areas, or sensitive sites. The diplomats would require prior permission to visit such areas.
