33 killed as flood stream washes away Kohistan village

Summary At least 33 people have been killed as a stream washed away dozens of houses in an area of Kohistan.

Dunya News learnt that the bodies of the 33 people who drowned have been recovered, while as many as 80 houses have been washed away by the stream in Jibral area of Kohistan. Scores of people have reportedly been made homeless, and while being stranded, they await help from outside. Roads leading to the other areas have also been washed away. The local administration has called in a helicopter for rescue operation. The stream is reported to have affected as many as 17 other villages.The affected area is a rough terrain cut off from rest of the neighbourhood. Rescue work hasn’t been officially started in the area as yet. The area people’s memories are still fresh with last year flood that ruined 10 to 15 villages in the same locality.
