Senate body given proof of corruption in Universal Support Fund

The committee also demanded lists of employees who have been getting bonus in the PTCL and recommended to include the name of USF chief in ECL.The session of the Senate’s Standing Committee for Science and Technology was held under the chairmanship of Chairman Senator Zahid Khan.Senator Raza Abdi told the committee that profit of the PTCL had decreased from Rs 29 billion to Rs 4 billion, warning that this amount is likely to turn into loss within next days.PTCL President Waleed Arshad is getting $ 52,000 per month, he said.All the major companies of Telecom are defaulter of the government by billion of rupees whereas courts have given stay-orders on cases worth Rs 173 billion. The ministry for Information and Technology was doing nothing in this regard.Senator Zahid Khan said that there was tremendous embezzlement in the Universal Support Fund worth billion of rupees.The committee has declared the posting of USF CEO as illegal and recommended to put the name of the head in ECL.The committee has also suggested calling for the head of the defaulter companies.
