Summary Electricity shortfall in the country has reached up to 4,059MW.
According to PEPCO spokesperson, currently power demand in the country is 18,677 MW while power production is 14,618MW, out of which 650MW has been provided to Karachi.He further said that the Hydral power production is 5,703MW, Thermal power production is 1,922MW, IPPs is 6,800MW, and Rental power production is 193 MW.Due to increase in shortfall, load shedding duration in urban areas has reached up to 8-10 hours and in rural areas up to12-14 hours. Masses are facing difficulties due to unscheduled load shedding.
