Summary Dengue fever is gripping Punjab fast, with scarce steps from authorities to control it.
Total number of dengue patients has crossed 762. In Punjab, 98 new cases have been reported over the last 24 hours. Out of these, 86 were reported in Lahore.There are total 421 reported dengue cases in provincial metropolis Lahore, while 2 cases each in Nankana and Sheikhupura. One case each has been reported from Sargodha, Kasur, Narowal, Faisalabad and DG Khan. Five dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals in Multan.Punjab Health Department says dengue fever is spreading fast in Lahore as compared to other cities, while the government has started fumigation drive to deny breeding places to the mosquitoes.According to a report, the infected patients were admitted to Services, Mayo and Jinnah hospitals while some to private hospitals.As the dengue mosquitoes breeds on fresh water, the recent spell of rains is thought to have spurred the spread of disease.
