'Job done': Sindh govt gives ultimatum to Karachi killers

Summary Sindh governments bigwigs in consultation with Rehman Malik gave a fresh ultimatum to killers.

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wassan decided not to call the Army in Karachi.The meeting was also attended by IG Sindh, DG Rangers, Additional IG Karachi and others. The meeting was given briefing on peace and security situation.During the meeting the extortionists and miscreants were given warning to leave the city forthwith, “otherwise stern action will be taken”.The proscribed 25 outfits were also given warning to discontinue all their activities and close down their offices, otherwise action will be initiated against under the Anti-Terrorism Act.It was decided during the meeting that stern action will be taken against the extortionists who were fomenting hatred among the traders and worsening law and order situation for the sake of vested interests.The DPOs and concerned police officers were directed to provide full protection to traders and shopkeepers.It was also decided that buses plying on inter-provincial routes and those entering into Karachi from other provinces would be strictly checked.Addressing, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said the federal government would provide more resources to the Sindh government to improve law and order situation in the province. Contacts between police and intelligence agencies would be stepped up, he added.Later, talking to the media, Rehman Malik put up a show of utter helplessness when he started cursing the killers and the masterminds behind the unrest in Karachi.
