UAE pardon 250 Pak prisoners this Ramadan, envoy expresses gratitude

Summary The cases of several prisoners were submitted to the rulers for grant of pardon.

Around 250 Pakistani prisoners from different jails in the UAE will be granted pardon in the Holy Month of Ramadan. In a statement issued by Pakistan Consulate Dubai, the Ambassador of Pakistan Jamil Ahmed Khan and the Consul General of Pakistan Tariq Iqbal Soomro extended their profound thanks to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, and Rulers of all other states of UAE for granting pardon to the Pakistani prisoners.The cases of several prisoners were submitted to the rulers for grant of pardon. The prisoners belong to various categories and were facing different periods of sentence in prisons in the UAE. The ambassador reiterated his firm resolve for the Pakistan Embassy and the Pakistan Consulate to continue taking efforts to pursue just causes and assist the UAE authorities in augmenting the welfare aspects of Pakistani prisoners undergoing their sentences in the UAE.Ambassador Khan has also pointed that they have again reminded the Ministry of Interior for stepping up its efforts for early finalization of the ‘Agreement on Transfer of Sentenced Persons.Once the agreement is signed, it will offer opportunities to all prisoners in the UAE to undergo the remaining part of their sentences in Pakistan close to their hometown and their families.
