ECC meets today to review increase in POL prices

A meeting of ECC would be held in Islamabad under the chair of Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh. The committee will review the imposition of Rs 5 per kg Petroleum Development Levy on GNG and LPG.According to the sources, the petroleum ministry had now suggested to the ECC to allow a 70 paisa per litre increase in dealers’ commission on high speed diesel from the existing rate of Rs1.50. The ministry also proposed to increase dealers’ commission on motor spirit (petrol) by 50 paisa per litre.The sources further said that the committee would be briefed on the financial matters of Pakistan Railway, loadshedding and increase in consumer goods during Ramazan.
