Summary People got no loadshedding relief despite a reduction in demand due to rains.
The continuous electricity loadshedding during iftar and sehar has aggravated the problem of the people.According to Multan Electric Power Supply Company, there is deficit of 600 megawatt deficit that is causing power outage in the region.Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, is facing a severe power crisis that paralyses the cycle of life in the province.Situation is not different in Balochistan and people are facing 6 to 18 hours of power outage in the province.Before Ramazan, Pakistan Electric Power Supply Company (PEPCO) Director General (DG) Ejaz Rafiq Qureshi had claimed that there would be no unscheduled loadshedding during the month of Ramazan, sehar and iftar timings would be exempted from power outage.Reducing loadshedding during the month of fasting is PEPCO’s first priority and that there would be no loadshedding during sehar and iftar, the DG said, adding that the operational directors of all distribution companies have been directed to chalk out efficient plans in order to minimise power outages during Ramazan.But the claim remained an elusive promise of the authorities.
