Summary Eight people have been killed and several injured in firing incidents in Karachi.

Shops and trading centres were shut after exchange of fire between two groups in Gulistan-e-Johar.Two people Zain and Mansoor were killed when caught in firing on a shop on Abu-ul-Hassan Isphahani Road. Panic gripped the area after the assassinations.One man was killed and five injured in exchange of fire between two groups near Rabia City, Gulistan-e-Johar. Shopping centres were shut as intermittent shots were heard in the area without any interference from the security forces. Police have shut the road between Johar Chungi and Pehlwan Goat for all type of traffic.The killings coincided with Interior Minister Rehman Malik’s claim that the government has controlled the situation in Karachi. Rehman Malik was in the city when the firing incidents started.
