Summary MQM chief Altaf Hussain has sought Army deployment in Karachi for restoration of peace.
He alleged that the Muhajirs were targetted in the previous tenure of the PPP as well. He asked the President, the PM and the Sindh CM to “stop patronising the terror elements”.In his telephonic address in various cities, Altaf said that he was ready to resign as party leader if it caused betterment in the country. Altaf Hussain also said the government should take indiscriminate action against all those involved in acts of terrorism. He said action should be taken against MQM if found involved in any wrongdoing. He also dilated on history and said that freedom in the area owes it to the sacrifices of the Muhajirs. He said the people who claim to be owners of Pakistan were slaves of Hindus until Muhajirs striggled to get the region freed. Altaf said the immigrants at the time of the partition didn’t come empty handed. He called upon the world community to accept the presence of the immigrants now as proper citizens as it’s the fifth generation of the immigrants living in the areas now Karachi and elsewhere. Referring to Sindhi population, Altaf said if they are 200-year-old Sindhis, “we are 70-year-old Sindhis”.
